Rivaroxaban is an oral anticoagulant used to treat and prevent venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is also indicated for stroke and clot prevention in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and is used with aspirin to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) or peripheral artery disease (PAD). Rivaroxaban is a factor Xa inhibitor that reduces blood clot formation.
